How will I sensitively negotiate the history and ravages of AIDS when I teach my daughter about HIV ?
What part of the truth is too honest ? How do you explain inaction, injustice, insensitivity, ethics and stigma to a growing child ? As my child grows, how will the attrition of my experiences inform my message ? Will I cultivate a radical thinker who will seek the vengeance and justice I've been unable to placate ? Shouldn't I ?
I am growing concern because HIV is a growing concern.
To teach about AIDS... is to teach about the human condition.
