4' x 5'
Painted canvas assembly, 2012
From a body of work that explores the language of military, HIV/AIDS the body, and symbolism.
Two canvases of identical size are placed to force an optical illusion that calls into question the themes of power, sexuality, and health as it relates to the human body. The chevron which is used to denote military ranking is appropriated as a means to reference the negotiation of power dynamics, and subordination of those who live with HIV/AIDS.
